For those travellers wanting
a good look at the Top End but are tight for time then our
3 Day Litchfield / Kakadu Adventure will give you a good dose
of the best that Kakadu and Litchfield have to offer.
Our first day is spent exploring
Litchfield National Park which is where many of the local
Darwin residents chose to visit with its rainforest walks,
swimming in wondrous waterholes, spectacular waterfalls cascading
off the Tabletop Range and those weird termite mounds dotting
the landscape that we'll find out about.
Our next two days are devoted
to exploring the world famous Kakadu National Park. Be prepared
to view some of the best indigenous rock art in the world
at Ubirr Rock and Nourlangie Rock. We visit Jim Jim Falls,
Twin Falls, go on a private Crocodile and Wildlife Cruise,
plenty of swimming in divine waterholes and some great hiking.
Small groups and away from
the crowds
Our Kakadu tours are all genuine small group adventures in
4-wheel drive vehicles that can take us away from the crowds
as much as possible so you can enjoy the tranquillity and
grandeur of one of Australia's most popular regions.
Day 1: Pickup from
Darwin CBD Toursit Accomodation Hotels, Backpackers
and Apartments,
Litchfield: Pick-up from your
accommodation begins at 7.00am. Our first stop for the day
is at the picturesque Florence Falls for a refreshing swim
after completing a short walk through the surrounding monsoon
rainforest. From here you will find many of the waterfalls
in Litchfield are close by meaning no long hauls in the tour
vehicle for the rest of the day.
Swim in the crystal clear rock
pools of Buley Rockholes before a short drive to the famous
Wangi Falls. Enjoy the view from the lookout at Tolmer Falls
where you can watch the waterfall cascading from a picturesque
narrow gorge into a huge plunge pool below.
As we leave Litchfield National
Park we pass by floodplains scattered with hundreds of Meridian
Termite Mounds and make a brief stop to learn more about the
inhabitants of these amazing structures. From Litchfield we
get to view some fantastic bird life on the Marrakai Floodplain
as we head down the Arnhem Highway on our way towards Kakadu.
We finally reach our overnight campsite after a day full of
swimming, adventure and great scenery. In the evening you
can spend some time stargazing under the southern skies (Lunch,
Dinner).

are bound to see plenty of bird life and usually a lot of
crocodiles on a 1.0 hour cruise that won't leave you disappointed.
Next you can view various
displays on Kakadu at the Bowali Visitor Centre before heading
north to Ubirr Rock. The concentration of Aboriginal art at
Ubirr is magnificent and is recognised as one of the most
famous rock art and cultural sites in the world. At Ubirr
Rock you will see some fantastic Aboriginal Art sites and
learn about the Aboriginal lifestyle and culture. A short
climb to the top of Ubirr Rock will reward you with a 360
degree view over floodplains and the Arnhem Land Escarpment
- a spectacular sight.
Another cultural experience
awaits you next at Nourlangie Rock with rock art depicting
mainly wildlife and Dreamtime stories and some paintings,
possibly dating back more than 20,000 years. A short drive

viewing many varieties of water birds on a floodplain, with
Nourlangie Rock acting as an impressive backdrop. Next we
take a short hike up Nawurlandja Lookout where you obtain
breathtaking views over central Kakadu and across to "Lightning
Dreaming" on the Arnhem Land Escarpment. Tonight after a candlelit
dinner in the heart of Kakadu, you can have a go at playing

Enjoy relaxing on the beach for a while as you take in the
scenery which can best be described as breath taking.
Keep a look out for local wildlife
